Long Biographical Sketch for Dennis A. Bohn

   Born in San Fernando, California, in 1942, Dennis A. Bohn earned BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of California at Berkeley in 1972 and 1974. Between undergraduate and graduate schools, he worked as an R&D engineer for Hewlett-Packard Company developing thin film, high-speed oscillators. Upon completing his MSEE, he accepted a position with National Semiconductor as an Application Engineer specializing in audio. While there, he created the Audio Handbook, acting as technical editor and contributing author. In 1976, he became a Senior Design Engineer for Phase Linear Corporation, where he designed several consumer audio products. Promoted to Engineering Manager in 1978, he helped develop Phase Linear’s Professional Audio Products division.

   His strong interest in professional audio prompted him to leave Phase Linear in 1982 and accept the position of V.P. Engineering for Rane Corporation. In 1984, he became a principal of Rane Corporation and V.P. Research & Development, where he now directs the design and development of advanced analog and digital products for the professional audio industry.

   Mr. Bohn is an AES Fellow, as well as a member of IEEE, and Tau Beta Pi, and listed in the First Edition of Who's Who In Science and Engineering (1992-1993), as well as Who's Who In America (2000). He has designed over 40 consumer and professional audio products and authored over 100 articles appearing in national and international magazines, including his many AES conference papers. He has published three articles in the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society and holds two U.S. patents. In addition, Dennis wrote the entry on "Equalizers" for the McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology, 7th edition.
